Naples Historic Pier
It’s impossible to picture Naples without its iconic pier at the end of 12th Street South. This beloved landmark, a true symbol of our city, was nearly lost to time. Walking along the pier, especially during peak season, feels like a miniature “United Nations,” with visitors from around the world enjoying its scenic beauty.
People stroll leisurely to the pier’s end, hoping to catch a glimpse of dolphins, watch fishermen reel in their catches, or simply soak in the stunning Gulf views. The Naples Pier Webcam provides a perfect way for those near and far to witness the breathtaking sunsets and the ever-changing beauty of the shoreline. From the pier’s furthest point, the 360-degree vistas make every sunset feel like a masterpiece. It’s hard to imagine Naples without this treasured landmark.
The original construction of the pier began in the summer of 1888 when Walter Halderman of The Naples Company awarded the contract to a Fort Myers firm. At the time, The Naples Company had just finished building the first 20 rooms of the Naples Hotel at 12th Avenue and 3rd Street to accommodate early tourists and potential investors. Before the pier’s existence, both people and goods had to arrive either by boat through the Gulf or Naples Bay, or by ox cart from Fort Myers. Now, thanks to modern technology, anyone can experience this historic site remotely via the Naples Pier Webcam, bringing a piece of Naples to screens around the world.
Whether in person or through the Naples Pier Webcam, this cherished pier continues to be a gateway to Naples’ natural beauty and history.
